Applied Engineering Controls

AEC Projects
Provide a secondary containment to control potential leakage airborne contamination at various component interfaces on a process skid.

Project Scope:

The customer required a custom HEPA filtered ventilation system with continuous air flow for secondary containment around various centrifuge components.  Custom stainless steel collars were designed by AEC, approved by the customer, fabricated and installed by AEC.  Containment collars were designed to suit various protrusions such as piping, thermocouples and sight glasses.  These encumbrances needed to be carefully considered in order to not interfere with the existing process functionality and operational interfaces.  The system also required the capability of easy removal for cleaning cycles.

Project Highlights:

  • The system successfully accommodated operational requirements and met all functional requirements with a very tight space envelope.
  • The project was completed 6 weeks after approval of drawings.
  • Off-the-shelf components were married with custom equipment.
